We are happy to see Nike give the Air Presto some shine again. Having recently released in two solid white and black versions, Nike announces today the “Brutal Honey” colorway of the sneaker. Originally “inspired by the fit of a T-shirt and created to mimic the same feel, with a unique XXXS-XXXL sizing structure and an elastic upper that hugged your foot,” the Presto was much like the Sock Dart that we saw recently return, way ahead of its time. It almost feels like today, with a general trend of slip-on sneakers with similar construction, is the perfect time to bring the silhouette back strong. Heralding a new age in lightweight footwear, the Nike Air Presto was in a calibre of its own with a predominantly mesh upper, form hugging exoskeleton and sizing more akin to the sportswear giant’s apparel range. After several limited edition releases – most recently as part of the ‘Geneology of Free’ pack – the Presto, originally launched in 2000, is back in a duo of new monochromatic colourways. Adhering to the OG design that was dubbed ‘t-shirt for your feet’, the 2015 Air Presto features the distinctive swoosh to the toebox, midsole and heel panel finished with tongue branded decal and inner sole sizing. Presenting a look OG Swoosh fans would be happy to see, Nike has decided to give the Air Presto a vibrant black and yellow colorway. The Nike Air Presto “Brutal Honey” continues the 16 year old silo’s comeback, returning with this one of the original 13 colorways from 1999, proving that supreme styling truly is timeless. With a build originally inspired by the fit of a T-shirt and features like an elastic-infused upper that hugs your foot, the precursor to today’s minimalist options can certainly be seen as way ahead of its time.
